Some employers provide matching donations to organizations when their employees make a contribution. Please forward your company's paperwork if you are considering a gift to SOAR.

Survivors of Abuse in Recovery, Inc. is a donor designated agency for the United Way of Delaware. This means that you must list our name and address: 405 Foulk Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 if you would like to contribute to us in this way.  We are also a recipient of funds through the Delaware State Employee's Charitable Campaign.

How is SOAR funded?

Currently, state grant-in-aid moneys fund 8% of the SOAR operating budget. Approximately 50% is made up of federal dollars through one-time grants and victim’s compensation.  The remaining 35 – 45% is funded through client fees, foundation grants, private donations and in-kind gifts of office space and program services from staff members.

Foundations that have supported SOAR in the past include: Crystal Trust, Crittenton Foundation, Inc., The Delaware Community Foundation Fund for Women, The Gannett Foundation, The MBNA Foundation, Laffey-McHugh Foundation, Chichester duPont Foundation, Welfare Foundation, Longwood Foundation, The Marmot Foundation, Crestlea Foundation and The Uniqema Fund. Organizations that have supported SOAR include Christ Church, The Wilmington Flower Market, Inc., the DuPont Company, and the Wilmington Trust Company.

Grant funding is extremely important to SOAR since 80% of clients have either exhausted their health insurance benefits or are uninsured and have severely limited financial resources.  SOAR offers fee subsidies based on individual need and no client is turned away based on his/her inability to pay.
